A Week on the Water

Well you all have not heard from me in a while, Jer has been doing most of the updating, but I thought I would let you know how things are going on the ship... As most of you know since I work in Alaska one of the many benifits of the job is a practically free cruise, and so when we got confirmed for this 14 day south america cruise, we were super excited, since our normal backpackers budget would never allow us to be on a cruise! But since its dirt cheap for us we thought why not!! And so we have been on for a week and are loving it! Although we did have 30 foot seas for a cuple days and Jeremia got pretty sick... he is over it now, but prefers land to water!! We have met some really amazing people and have been doing a lot of sight seeing, one of our highlights so far has been the Falkland Islands, many of you know of these Isalands because of the very famous and horrible war in 1982.

The islands were cold, windy and only low lying shrubs were to be found, but it was spectacular, the history that was there and the landscape was impressive! We did a 18 k hike the day that we were there out to gypsy cove, were we were able to see penguins and some really intersting birds. It was also my Dads birthday so we called home to wish him a happy birthday and that was really special! Calling from way down south!! After the falkland we sailed for 2 days to cape horn, where we sailed around, and got certificates stating that we had been around the horn, that was also very enjoyable!

Today we are in the southern most city in the world, Ushuaia Argentina. We plan to hit up some of the sights and then we sail tonight to see some of the Glaciers of the Patagonian Andees. Thats all for now, lots of love, from the end of the world!!

We are enjoying your adventures... We have not met personally, but have heard wonderful things about the two of you. Jim & Marilyn Warman are relatives (Marilyn Sue is my sister and Jim is my brother-in-law) and we (Keith & Theresa Young) are visiting them in Kailua 12-28 April. Keep up the adventure. I have not found your pictures yet on Webshots but will look later on this evening. I have posted our pictures at: http://community.webshots.com/user/dkeithyoung, if you care to view... All the best to the two of you. Keith & Theresa Young
